REBECCA CORTES, Counseling Intern
Rebecca is currently a counselor in training working towards her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in trauma through Grand Canyon University. She is passionate about helping others feel empowered and heard through active listening, her sense of humor and meeting clients where they are at. Rebecca believes every part of someone’s story matters and finds sibling order and early childhood experiences to play great roles in shaping an individual. Attachment theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness are approaches she has found intriguing and impactful throughout her education.
Rebecca works within a high acuity psychiatric and detox facility where she works alongside nurses to ensure proper care and next best steps for each patient. She displays compassion, hope, and sincerity in the midst of their crises. When Rebecca is outside of work she enjoys watching comedic shows and movies, catching up with friends, looking at beautiful photographs and similar art mediums, and being present with her husband.
